Their research highlights the potential of joint involvement patterns as clinical markers in RA — showing that these patterns are linked to distinct clinical outcomes and histological features:
🔹 Foot-dominant
🔹 Hand-dominant
🔹 Oligoarticular (few joints)
🔹 Polyarticular (many joints)
📌 Key Insight:
Patients with hand-dominant RA had the best outcomes, with the highest remission rates, while polyarticular cases were the least likely to achieve CDAI remission in the NORDSTAR & BeSt cohorts.
Moreover, Dr. Stefano Alivernini’s SYNGem cohort revealed clear histological differences between these subgroups.
